Judy Rathbun Whitney Exhibit

March 1st brings Judy Rathbun Whitney to the Old Lyme Phoebe Griffing Noyes Library to exhibit her paintings in acrylic and oils. The exhibit and sale will run from March 1st- April 16th in the main room of the Library.

Judy's love of painting began in the early 1950's when she served tea at the Lyme Art Association receptions. She continued her art studies in California where she painted predominantly in oil. In the 1970's, Judy began to develop her own techniques using acrylic as a water medium. Strong drawing and bold design characterize her style. Judy applies layers of rich color without using white paint.

Gordon Fraser, Ltd., of Bedford, England and Evergreen Press in the Untied States, published Judy's work in the 1980's. Her work has been represented in national, regional and local juried shows. For 18 years she has also exhibited in the San Francisco Bay area's Greenleaf Gallery. In May 1994, after the death of her husband, Judy returned with her dog, "Casey" to live in Old Lyme.

The show is free and open during regular library hours. For more information, please contact the Information Desk at 434-1684.
